Apartman Sunset › Trogir Travel Guide
What to see, where to swim, and how to get there — a 2,000-year-old island town on the Dalmatian coast, just ~5 km from Split Airport.
Why Trogir
Trogir sits on a small island in Split-Dalmatia County, linked by bridges to the mainland and to the island of Čiovo. Its compact, car-free old town — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is one of the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic complexes in central Europe: stone streets, palaces, churches and a seafront Riva you can cross in minutes. It makes an easy, quieter base than Split, while staying within reach of beaches, waterfalls and the Adriatic islands.
What to see

Trogir's landmark three-nave cathedral, built mostly from the 13th century. Its west portal — carved by master Radovan in 1240 — is one of the finest works of medieval sculpture on the Adriatic. Climb the bell tower for views over the rooftops.

A 15th-century Venetian fortress guarding the western tip of the island. Walk its ramparts for sweeping views over the channel, the marina and Čiovo — a favourite spot at sunset.

Trogir's palm-lined seafront, running along the channel between the old town and Čiovo. Lined with cafés and moored boats, it's the place for an evening stroll, a coffee, or to catch a boat for a day trip.

The whole historic core is car-free and best explored slowly: narrow stone lanes, the main square, the loggia, the town gates and small churches. Everything is a short walk from the next — and from Apartman Sunset, about 5 minutes away.
Getting there
The airport sits between Split and Trogir, near Kaštela — one of the shortest airport-to-old-town hops in Croatia. Take a taxi, a pre-booked transfer, or a local bus.
Frequent buses connect Split's bus station with Trogir, and in summer a passenger boat also runs along the coast. Easy as a base or as a day trip in either direction.
Once you're in Trogir, you barely need a car: the old town is pedestrian-only and the island of Čiovo is a short walk over the bridge. Boats for day trips leave right from the Riva.
